# Internal client channels

> Backstage: a channel of your own where the team reviews a worker's drafts for a client before the worker is in front of that client.

Before a worker talks to Acme directly, give it a channel where your team can see what it would say. That channel is **internal**, because only your people are in it, but the work in it is about one client.

## Setting it up

1. Create the channel in Slack with your own people in it.
2. Invite the worker. When it asks what the channel is for, press **Internal channel**, not the client.
3. Ask the worker for the client's work there: *draft Acme's weekly status*. Your team's copy answers, with Acme's folder in reach, so the draft is about Acme.
4. When the drafts are right, invite the worker to the channel Acme is in, and set that one up for Acme.

```slack
#acme-internal
Sam: @Nora draft Acme's weekly status for Monday. Don't send anything.
Nora (worker): Draft below. Blocked first, 131 words. Tell me what to change and I'll keep the rule for Acme.
  [Acme · weekly status · draft] Blocked: launch date needs Acme's sign-off · In progress: 14 of 22 pages · Done: identity approved
Priya: Good. Swap the second line for the legal edits, then it's ready.
```

*The team reviews in the internal channel. Nothing reaches Acme until someone sends it.*

## Why it is internal

Because your team's copy answers there, it knows the whole company: every client, every connection placed with the company. That is what you want backstage. In Acme's own channel, only Acme's copy answers, which knows less, on purpose. See [Client separation](https://www.ergoly.ai/docs/clients/separation).

> **Worth knowing.** Keep client contacts out of the internal channel. The channel decides who is answered, so a guest in an internal channel would be answered by your team's copy.
