# Chart

> An org chart that holds people and workers side by side. Drag to place, and the chart decides who a worker turns to when it needs a person.

Ergoly Docs › Company. Web: https://www.ergoly.ai/docs/company/chart · Index: https://www.ergoly.ai/docs/llms.txt

The chart shows your agency as a tree: teams, the people in them, the workers in them, and open roles you have not filled yet. A person is anyone from your Slack workspace. A worker sits on the chart like a person does, with a title and someone it reports to.

## Adding to the chart

Press **Add** at the top, or right-click empty canvas. The menu has two rows: **Individuals** (Person, Worker, Open role) and **Teams** (Team, Vendor, Client). A person is picked from Slack; a worker opens the new-worker page; an open role is a seat to fill later.

## Placing and moving

- Drag a card onto another card to make it report there, onto a team to join it, or onto an open role to fill it.
- The **No team** tray along the bottom holds everything not on the chart yet: new workers, clients nobody has placed, people from Slack. Drag out of it to place; drag onto it to remove.
- Every card has a sheet. Open it to change the name or title, **Move…** it, or **Remove from chart**. Removing takes the card and everything under it back to the tray; nothing is deleted.
- One seat can hold two people (**Share this seat**), and a person or worker can be placed in more than one spot.

## What to show

The **Show on the chart and list** menu has two boxes: **Vendors** (on by default) and **Clients** (off by default). The **Chart** and **List** tabs show the same company two ways; List has a status filter.

## Why it matters to a worker

The chart is a picture, not a permission. Placing a worker in a team does not change what it can see. It does decide one thing: when a worker needs a person, it goes to the nearest person above it on the chart, unless you set someone else. See [Reporting](https://www.ergoly.ai/docs/workers/reporting).

> **Worth knowing.** A team's lead is not a setting. It is simply the one seat directly under the team.
