# Your first correction

> Say what you want done differently, once. The worker writes it down and files it with the right client, the right worker, or the whole company.

A worker learns the way a new hire does: by being told. You do not configure it. You correct it in the thread where the work happened, and it keeps the rule.

```slack
#acme-internal
Nora (worker): Here is the Acme weekly status draft. Three sections: done, in progress, blocked.
Sam: @Nora Acme reads these on their phone. Lead with blocked, and keep the whole thing under 150 words.
Nora (worker): Done, 128 words, blocked first. I've noted for Acme: lead with blocked, under 150 words. I'll keep to that for their status notes from now on.
```

*The rule is filed with Acme, because it is about Acme. Globex is unchanged.*

## Where the rule goes

When a worker learns something, it asks itself who the thing is true for. A client's preference is filed with that client. A better way of doing the job is filed with the worker, so every client benefits. A rule for the whole agency is filed with the company. If it is not sure, it files narrower, and tells you where it put it.

## Checking what it kept

Everything a worker remembers is a file you can read. Open the worker in control, choose the **Knowledge** tab, and pick the client from the context picker at the top. The note is there, in plain Markdown, and you can edit it. See [Memory](https://www.ergoly.ai/docs/workers/knowledge/memory).

> **Worth knowing.** A correction about how the worker behaves in general, rather than a fact about a client, belongs in its behaviors. The worker proposes the exact line and adds it only after your explicit yes. See [Behaviors](https://www.ergoly.ai/docs/workers/behaviors).
