# Channels

> Where a worker operates: Slack, email, and the web. And the events in those channels that make it act.

A **channel** is anywhere a worker can be reached. Slack is where it lives: channels, direct messages, group messages. Email is a second address for the same worker. The web is for other systems: a URL they can post to, and the API.

An **event** is something that happens in a channel: a message, a mention, a scheduled routine firing, a delivery to a webhook. Every event starts a worker working, and ends with an answer back where the event came from. See [Events](https://www.ergoly.ai/docs/workers/channels/events).
