# Connections

> How a worker uses the tools it has been given. The tools themselves are set up under Work.

Ergoly Docs › Workers. Web: https://www.ergoly.ai/docs/workers/connections · Index: https://www.ergoly.ai/docs/llms.txt

A worker uses whatever **connections** reach it: apps your company has connected and placed with the company, with this worker, with a client, or with this worker for one client. The worker's **Connections** tab lists the apps that reach it in the chosen context, and nothing else.

It never holds a password or a key. It calls the app by name, and Ergoly supplies the credential on the way out. Connect and place apps on the company's **Connections** page; the worker's tab is a view of the result.

## From Slack

A worker can also ask for a connection itself, within its own reach. For an app that signs in, it posts a link anyone in the conversation can open; for an app that takes a key, you paste the key in the thread and it goes straight to the vault, never echoed back. A client's copy can place a connection only with itself for that client, or with that client.

```slack
#acme-internal
Sam: @Nora you'll need Acme's HubSpot for this.
Nora (worker): I'll connect HubSpot for Acme only. Here's the sign-in link; it works for a few minutes. Once someone signs in, I can read Acme's pipeline.
  [Connect HubSpot to Nora for Acme] Opens a sign-in in a new tab · Placed with: Nora for Acme
```
