Slack

Each worker is a member of your workspace. Every channel it is in belongs to one client or to your team, and that decides what it knows there.

A worker is a named member of your Slack workspace: its own app, its own avatar, in the channels you invite it to. Four kinds of place, four pages:

Internal channels
Your team's own channels. The worker answers from everything it knows, every client included.
Client channels
A channel that belongs to one client. The worker answers from that client's world and nothing else.
DMs
A direct message. Who you are decides which copy answers.
Group DMs
A message to the worker and a few people at once.

When a worker joins a channel

Invite a worker to a channel the way you invite a person. It stays only if a workspace admin invited it, and it asks the inviter, privately, what the channel is for, with a suggestion.

Your agency
# acme

I just joined #acme. It looks like your client Acme's channel. Set me up for Acme?

Set up for Acme

NoraAPP09:18

Done — #acme is Acme's channel, and their agent is live. Go ahead and talk to me there.

Only the person who invited it can answer. Anyone else is told so.

If no client matches, it offers New client…, which creates the client and sets the channel up in one go. If only your team is in the channel, it suggests Internal channel. Leave channel backs out.

Threads and progress

In a channel, a worker always replies in a thread. While it works, its Slack status shows is thinking…. A message that arrives while it is busy gets a 👀 reaction and is handled next; several messages from the same person in a row are handled as one.
